Governor Walker holds firm on criteria for allowing casino in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- Governor Scott Walker's deadline for making a ruling on the proposed Kenosha casino project is one day away. We caught up the governor and asked if there was any wiggle room on his deadline or criteria. He explained he put those rules in place for a reason, which means the Menominee tribe can expect a decision soon.

Governor Walker made it clear in a stop in New Berlin he'd like to see plans for Kenosha casino move forward, but not without meeting his criteria. \"I'm still hopeful that people know how close things are to the end here, \" says Walker.

The end could end soon as the governor's deadline is October 22nd. He gave the Menominee tribe 60 days to convince all 11 state tribes to approve. That's proved to be a difficult task. So far the Oneida is on board, but the Potawatomi and Ho-Chunk are against the proposed new casino. Both of these tribes have competing casinos that may be impacted by the opening of the new Kenosha casino.

Kenosha Mayor Keith Bosman remains hopeful the Menominee can sway the others. He sees the casino as a great chance to boost the economy throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
