Dangerous heat continues for a few more days as storm chances increase

NOW: Dangerous heat continues for a few more days as storm chances increase
NEXT:

The heat is still on. High temperatures on Tuesday reached into the 90s for everyone and this time we didn't have any of that lake breeze or cooler temps in Sheboygan or Ozaukee Counties. Everyone on this map reached well into the 90s making it the second day in a row for most with the heat.

Humidity levels stayed high on Tuesday with dew points reaching well into the mid and upper 70s causing tropical and miserable humidity levels. That pushed feels like temps well above 100 degrees for most of southeast Wisconsin. Many communities got all the way to 100 for a heat index value, much warmer than Monday.

The heat will continue on Wednesday with high temperatures potentially the warmest of the week in the mid 90s. Then we stay in the low 90s for Thursday and Friday as the heat continues. Five days in a row with highs at or above 90 degrees is still possible for the first time since 2021. We do see some relief from the heat arrive for the 4th of July holiday with highs only around 80 for the holiday weekend.

Humidity levels will continue to stay extremely high with dew points reaching the middle to upper 70s. At times the moisture levels could reach a dew point of 80 in some areas. The air will remain very heavy and difficult for some to breathe with an instant sweat factor.

The heat index values will continue to stay high. Wednesday's feels like temps will be similar to Tuesday meaning most get into the 100s and potentially as high as 110 or even warmer. Watch out for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, both of which are very possible as we continue to deal with prolonged heat.

The feels like temperatures will get a little better for Thursday and Friday with feels like temps hanging out between 95 to 105 to end the holiday weekend. As of now, the NWS has not issued any heat alerts for Thursday. Another Extreme Heat Warning is possible but at the very least a Heat Advisory would likely be issued. An Extreme Heat Warning does still remain in effect until 7 PM on Wednesday.

In addition to the heat, the storm chance is starting to increase. Our northwest counties like Fond du Lac and Dodge will have the best chance to see any rain and storms on Wednesday with a chance in the morning and again in the late evening hours. Any storms that do form have the potential to be strong to severe. Central and north central Wisconsin will have the better possibility to see strong and severe storms blow up over them Wednesday afternoon and evening. A Level 3 Enhanced risk has been issued for these areas with that potential for severe weather.

The storm chances will continue to increase the rest of the week with more scattered storms possible on Thursday and Friday. The potential for some rain on July 4th has also increased.
