Former MPD executive charged with election fraud tied to false residency

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department announced Monday, Aug. 25 that a criminal complaint has been filed against former civilian executive staff member Marcey Patterson following an internal investigation.
According to MPD, allegations of misconduct came up in June. Chief Jeffrey Norman directed the Internal Affairs Division to investigate, and the findings were sent to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors filed a complaint charging Patterson with one count of election fraud. The complaint states she voted in 12 Milwaukee elections between 2018 and 2025 while living outside the city.
Investigators said Patterson had not resided in Milwaukee since March 2018, first moving to a home in Glendale and later to an apartment in Brown Deer. Despite that, records show she continued to vote at Samuel Clemens School in Milwaukee. She reportedly also claimed a 3 percent residency incentive in her police department pay, totaling more than $8,200 in additional compensation.
The complaint states that Patterson told MPD that the Milwaukee address was what she considered to be her "permanent residence," as that is where her elderly mother lived, and because she did have occasional overnight stays.
Patterson resigned from her role as Community Relations and Engagement Manager on July 21 after more than three years with MPD.
