CBS 58 RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fire at a Racine Pizza Hut on Monday, Jan. 26 caused an estimated $150,000 in damage, according to the Racine Fire Department.
Firefighters responded around 6:42 p.m. to Pizza Hut on Washington Ave. for a roof fire. People driving by called in the fire along with employees who noticed smoke inside the building before exiting and seeing the fire.
Flames were coming from behind the south roof facade when firefighters arrived. Crews controlled and put out the fire in 30 minutes using an aerial stream and handlines, according to the fire department.
The south roof area and facade suffered major fire and water damage while the interior of the restaurant suffered water and smoke damage.
No injuries have been reported.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in building damage and $50,000 in contents damage. The cause remains under investigation by a Racine Fire Department investigator.
