February goes into the records warm and dry

NOW: February goes into the records warm and dry
NEXT:

February is now in the record books as March begins. The snowiest day during the month of February came on the last day of the month when 1-3" of snow fell across the heart of southeast Wisconsin on Saturday. The 2" that fell in Milwaukee were the most for a single day in the whole month.

Despite a snowy end to February, the month ends well below average on snowfall with only 5.7" which was well behind the average of almost 12" and less than February 2025. Officially, it goes down in the records as the 42nd least snowy February on record.

February also saw some decent rain showers and even some thunderstorms. But it wasn't enough rain to make up for the deficit the lack of snow left for us. The official monthly precipitation total was 0.72" which is almost a full inch behind average and goes down as the 33rd driest February on record.

When it came to temperature during the month of February, overall it was warm. The average monthly temperature was just over 30 degrees which was over three degrees above average and goes down as a Top 25 warmest February on record.

The warmth was mostly helped by some extremely warm days with three days in February reaching the 60s including a 63 degree high temperature on February 16th. The coldest temperature wasn't too cold either with a low of seven on the first day of February.

Now we look ahead to March. Typically, March sees pretty good warming with average highs going from the upper 30s to near 50 and lows going from the mid 20s to the low 30s. March still averages some snow with over 6" on average as well as a total of 2.2" of precipitation.
