(CBS 58) – As many head to their closets and cabinets to do spring cleaning, experts say there’s another form of the yearly activity that you should pick up, digital spring cleaning.
The Better Business Bureau says it’s important to make sure your personal data is secure this spring. Experts say simple and proactive steps will go a long way in protecting your information.
The BBB says one of the first things to do is clean out old hard drives or devices by erasing or destroying them. If there’s information on the devices, it has the potential to be stolen.
It’s also important to empty your computer’s trash or recycle bin.
According to the BBB, it’s not only computers you’ll want to make sure are clean, it’s also important to look at old flash drives, copiers, printers and fax machines.
