MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- No one was hurt during a large house fire Friday evening.
The two-alarm fire broke out just before 7 p.m. near Grant Street and Forest Home on Milwaukee's south side.
Firefighters say the fire started to spread to nearby buildings.
Everyone around the affected area was able to be evacuated, including a dog.
"Obviously the dog was in distress, overcome by the smoke, but that's why the med unit we have has special masks for pets that we put on to give them some oxygen," said Deputy Chief Joseph Hegeman Jr.
The chief says no one was hurt, and the Red Cross is helping people who were displaced.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
