MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A very thoughtful response to the Molson Coors tragedy came from Milwaukee Brewers Manager Craig Counsell Thursday.
"There's a public safety issue going on," he said. "And it's guns, it's mental health, we gotta figure out what it is. And I think it's a wake-up call to me, for me...I gotta do my part."
Counsell grew up in the Milwaukee area, and he's clearly taking Wednesday's shooting in a personal way. Like many people, he's struggling.
"I don't have the answers, 'cause it's a complicated question. But what's happening isn't complicated and it should push us all to action. Certainly voting, it's research and voting -- do your homework and vote."
The entire Brewers teem tweeted a photo from spring training Thursday, holding a "Milwaukee Strong" sign.
The tweet says, "We may be in Phoenix, but our hearts are in Milwaukee."
The sign hung in the dugout as the Brewers played their preseason game in Arizona. The players also wore black ribbons on their uniforms in honor of the shooting victims, and a moment of silence was held as well.
