Family says Brown was known as “Turtle” to his family and friends, and that he leaves behind two kids.
“You were good to your parents, and you were even better to your children and collectively, to your family,” Brown’s cousin, Deloris Cross, said.
Hundreds of family members and friends showed up for the balloon release at Syrs Restaurant and Lounge, where Brown was a co-owner.
“The community’s pouring into us with love and appreciation,” Cross said. “We all come together today to celebrate him and his life and his achievements in life.”
