MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- CBS 58 is committed to giving you all the information you need before casting your ballot. That includes the race for Milwaukee Mayor between Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson and former Alderman Bob Donovan.
In a mayoral conversation moderated by our own Mike Strehlow, the two candidates discussed how they'd tackle the city's rising homicide rate.
"I simply do not believe there is any hope of restoring order or stability to our streets and neighborhoods without providing MPD with the appropriate level of manpower," said Donovan.
"Holistic public safety means having the adequate number of officers, something I want to see and I've been fighting for. it also means working to have mental health services available to folks in our community. It also means working to have earlier intervention in the lives of our young people," said Johnson.
"Milwaukee's Next Mayor: A Conversation with the Candidates", was the final joint appearance between Johnson and Donovan ahead of Tuesday's election.
