BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) – When the sun goes down, the moon is the second brightest sight on 51st Street in Brown Deer.
Mark Howe’s home is known as the ‘Lights on 51st St.’ has nearly 20 thousand lights synced to Christmas music.
“I’m just a believer. I’m a believer in Christmas. I’m a believer in Santa Claus. This is just the best time of the year,” Howe said.
The warehouse worker by day says he plans his display throughout the entire year. As families drive by, they can tune in to the radio to watch his work, inspired by his youth.
“When I was a young kid, I remember my mom and dad would take me around the neighborhood and look at all the light,” Howe said. “I kinda fell in love with the lights.”
While Howe brightens his neighborhood with his home, he says his real goal is to brighten people’s spirits during the holidays.
“It’s my gift to the Village of Brown Deer,” How said. “It’s just my way of putting a smile on kids’ faces.”
