All-In Milwaukee announces expansion to support low-income Milwaukee students
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Nonprofit organization All-In Milwaukee revealed its plans for significant growth during a Wednesday, Sept. 13 event.
Currently supporting 415 Milwaukee college students from low-income backgrounds, the organization intends to more than double its outreach to 1,000 students within the next five years.
In a gathering attended by 125 business and civic leaders, All-In Milwaukee officials discussed students’ success stories and presented their strategic plan for expanding their program. Over the past five years, the organization had to decline more than 1,000 eligible high school seniors due to limited resources.
Executive Director Allison Wagner stated that the expansion is designed to level the playing field by providing various forms of support to scholars. This initiative comes after the program's first-ever graduating class celebrated their completion this spring.
The data shows that while only 14% of Milwaukee high school graduates earn a degree within six years, 90% of All-In Milwaukee’s first class is expected to graduate by spring 2024. Additionally, 80% are projected to graduate without any college debt.
Employers such as Accenture, Amazon and Baird have already shown interest in hiring graduates from the program, with 97% of this year’s graduating class is expected to remain in Wisconsin.
