Racine: Man hospitalized after house fire on Franklin Street

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) --- The Racine Fire Department responded to a fire on the 1700 block of Franklin Street around 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Officials say the caller reported an adult man was at the stairs and possibly dead.

Upon arrival, Engine 6 reported fire on the second floor and a Racine police officer performed CPR on the victim. 

Medics arrived on scene and took over patient care from the officer. Advanced life support was provided to the patient who regained a pulse and was then transported to Ascension All Saints ER to be stabilized before being transported to Milwaukee's Columbia Saint Mary's Burn Center. 

There are no patient status updates available at this time.

The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes of arrival. A total of 19 Racine Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.

Damage estimates of $75,000 exceeds the assessed value of $70,400 according to officials. The contents loss totals $15,000. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
