16-year-old boy dies swimming in Lake Michigan near Racine

Sunday evening at 5:36 PM the Racine County Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a possible drowning in Lake Michigan near the area of Michigan Boulevard and Augusta Street in Racine.

A 16-year-old boy was swimming in the area with two other teens. While swimming, the 16-year-old went under the water and never resurfaced. 

Boat patrols and dive teams responded and at 6:12 PM located the 16-year-old boy under the water and removed him. Life saving measures were taken and the boy was transported to Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine, but he did not survive.
