RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) – NBA All-Star and basketball analyst Caron Butler visited Roosevelt Elementary School in Racine on Tuesday.
Butler, a Racine native, acted as principal for the day and spoke to students encouraging them to be the best version of themselves. Before Butler spoke, students watched a video about his childhood and the trouble he got into before he became successful.
Now, he hopes to be a role model to kids across the area.
“I think you need more people coming back and doing assemblies and talking to the kids,” Butler said. “Connecting with them and giving them the wisdom and information and insight that you can be anything when you grow up.”
Butler spent the rest of the school day walking around to the classrooms and talking more with students.
