Yorkville Man Arrested after Police Find 77 Marijuana Plants in Home

On May 12, at approximately 4:00 PM, agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit, and Deputies from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant in the 17000 block of 50th Road, in the Town of Yorkville.

During the search of the property, police located an indoor hydroponic marijuana grow operation. The marijuana grow consisted of 38 live marijuana plants and 39 marijuana plant “clones.” A marijuana plant clone is a small trimming from another marijuana plant used to begin growing a new plant. The plant used to cut these clones from is often referred to as the mother plant. Hydroponic growing allows the plants a continuous supply of water and liquid fertilizer.

During the search, 221 grams of marijuana plant seeds were also located along with various drug paraphernalia.

An average marijuana plant can produce approximately one pound of finished product. The street value of a pound of marijuana varies dependent upon the quality or potency but can range from $1,000 - $5,000 per pound.

A small child was also found in the residence.

Craig J. Klein, 34-years-old, of Yorkville was arrested during the search and is being held at Racine County Jail on charges of manufacture THC, possession of THC as a repeat drug offender, keeper of drug place for manufacture, 2nd degree reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
