Woman in grave condition after overnight apartment fire

MILWAUKEE-- A woman is in grave condition after an overnight fire at an apartment building in Milwaukee.


Firefighters responded to the four-unit building near 51st and Keefe around 3:00am Saturday.


They found a woman inside who was not breathing. They were able to resuscitate her, but she was taken to a local hospital where she is now listed in grave condition.


The Milwaukee Fire Department said that there were no working smoke detectors in he building.


Seven people including two children were displaced by the fire.


The fire caused about $180,000 worth of damage.


The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
