Washington and Ozaukee counties launch social media campaign to encourage vaccinations

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department launched the #WashOzVaxed campaign to encourage community patterners to share why they choose to get vaccinated against COVID-19 on Monday, April 3.

Officials say community members are encouraged to share why they are getting vaccinated by sharing a picture and tagging #WashOzVaxed in the post.

According to officials, West Bend Police Chief Kenneth J. Meuler shared his story by stating the number of law enforcement officers who have died due to coronavirus.

“This past year over 3,600health care workers, and over 400 law enforcement officers have died due to COVID," he said. "Please help keep those that serve you safe and healthy by getting vaccinated. My wife and I, my three children and their spouses, and my 16-year-old grandson have all received the COVID vaccine. We encourage all to get vaccinated to help everyone stay safe and healthy, and help the country get back to normal.”
