UPDATE: Wife Dead, Husband Seriously Injured after Crash in Racine County
On Tuesday August 30 at 2:27 PM, the Racine County Communications Center received 911 calls for two vehicles involved in an accident in the 1500 block of South Sylvania Avenue in the Town of Yorkville. Racine County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and found two occupants from one of the vehicles involved were severely injured.
The injured parties were a married couple from the Village of Union Grove. The injured couple was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. The man, Earl Goebel 85-years-old, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. His wife, Evelyn Goebel 87-years-old, did not survive her injuries and passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital. Both husband and wife were residents of Racine County.
The driver of the second vehicle identified as 21-year-old Kenosha County resident Aaron Tuener was not injured.
A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the second vehicle failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn.
At this time it appears alcohol was not a contributing factor in the crash. All parties were using their seat belts at the time of the crash.
