RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Five people are being charged after an investigation revealed inmates at the Racine Correction Institution attempted to smuggle narcotics inside the facility. 

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit developed information indicating inmates Shaterous Barber and Renault Griffin conspired with others to arrange for narcotics to be delivered to Lamesha Cobbler in
Racine.

The plan involved arranging an in-person visit with the RCI inmates, and the drugs would be smuggled in. 

Officials say surveillance and recorded telephone calls revealed Cobbler directed her son, Ziarre Griffin, to meet with Marlayja Nolan of Beloit at the Target in Racine. 

Agents reportedly observed a hand-to-hand transaction before conducting traffic stops on both Griffin and Nolan. 

Authorities searched Griffin's vehicle and found approximately 13.8 grams of cocaine that were individually packed into 14 small bindles. 

As a result of the investigation, five people are being charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine: 

• Ziarre Griffin, 19 - Taken to Racine County Jail
• Marlayja Nolan, 28 - Taken to Racine County Jail
• Lamesha Cobbler, 37 - Taken to Racine County Jail
• Shaterous Barber 29 - Charges referred to Racine County DA
• Renault Griffin, 38 - Charges referred to Racine County DA
