MILWAUKEE (CBS58)--Two friends shot to death hours apart in two different locations in Milwaukee. Family, friends and local leaders are looking for answers.

The family of 39-year-old Alston Johnson spent Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 26 canvassing the area of 15th and Fiebrantz. They talked to neighbors and passed out flyers asking for information in the death of Johnson.

"I'm not here to downplay any other homicide in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but this one we are not going let slide. I am not going to be quiet about it," Sunshine Johnson said. She is Johnson's cousin.

Milwaukee police say Johnson was shot to death around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, Oct. 23 near 15th and Fiebrantz. Tuesday, the family held a press conference at the scene. They are asking the community to speak out.

"As far as the information, it's lacking, they're not telling us anything," Johnson said.

The family says Johnson doesn't live in the area.

"I'm just asking for justice because I'm going to really miss her," Sharrion Loyde said.

Hours after Johnson was murdered, her friend, 37-year-old Warren Wheeler, was killed near 12th and Fiebrantz.

Johnson's family says the two were together that night. It's still unclear how they ended up at different locations.

"This is a great loss, this is something that was just caught off guard, everybody is really messed up," Johnson said.

Both friends celebrated birthdays this month, now their families are saying goodbye.

"She was loved, and you know people say all the time, oh this person was innocent. This was an innocent person, she didn’t do nothing but work and take care of her kid. She was non-confrontational...she was so laid back," Johnson said.

Johnson leaves behind an 18-year-old son who just graduated.

The family is offering a 50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
