Today is the last day to help name Milwaukee Zoo's new giraffe

Today is the last day for you to vote for the name of the Milwaukee County Zoo’s baby giraffe.  You can select your choice for a name up to 11:59 tonight.  The votes will be tabulated the winning name will be announced on Friday, October 16, the young giraffe’s one-month birthday.  The baby giraffe was born on September 16 to mother, Ziggy, and father, Bahatika.

There are five names to choose from:  Asante, a Swahili word meaning "thank you" it is also the name of this giraffe calf's grandfather … Jua, a Swahili word meaning "sun" … Kayin, a word of African origin meaning "long awaited child" … Mwana, a Swahili word meaning "son" … and Tafari a word of African origin meaning “he who inspires awe.”

Anyone is eligible to cast a vote, but one vote per person is appreciated. To vote, visit milwaukeezoo.org.
