SALEM LAKES, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Salem Lakes is home to Wisconsin's newest Safe Haven Baby Box. 

The new location, located at the Salem Lakes Fire Department -- 11252 254th Ct., Trevor -- will offer a secure option for mothers in crisis who are unable to care for their newborns.

"This would not have been possible without them and wherever they are, thank you so much for all that you've done for us," said Salem Lakes Fire Department Chief Alan Carr. "Your commitment to public safety as well as the wellbeing of our most vulnerable is what truly brings this mission to life. The Safe Haven Baby Box is more than a structure, it's a symbol of compassion and safety and community. Together we have created something that will save lives and provide an offer of hope." 

This baby box marks the 346th location in the nation and the fifth in Wisconsin.
