NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A New Berlin man was honored Monday, for his ability to look after those who served.
Richard Taczala was presented with the Forward28 award, celebrating people who are quietly making a difference in the community.
The honoree spent some time in the Navy and now spends his time helping veterans, making sure they get the recognition they deserve.
Taczala commented on how serving others is often beneficial to everyone involved.
"With the Honor Guard, we give back to the family and friends and people that served our country, and now they are no longer with us and it's an honor to give them a salute and a military funeral," Taczala said.
The award was kickstarted by state Senator Julian Bradley, who takes nominees from people living in Wisconsin's 28th District.
