Tire and wheel crash through car during morning commute

An early morning commuter escaped major injury this morning when a wheel and tire smashed through the windshield of their car. The accident happened just before 6 AM on I-41 near Leon Road in Menomonee Falls. According to the Menomonee Falls Police Department, the left front wheel of a southbound full sized pickup truck came off the truck. The wheel kept rolling down the highway, crossed over the median and struck a north bound passenger car. The tire and wheel struck the hood of the car, smashed through the windshield and ripped open the roof. According to the Police, the driver and sole occupant of the car received only very minor lacerations. The driver of the truck was able to stop the vehicle safely and was not injured.
