Milwaukee County celebrates National Voter Registration Day
MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- More city leaders are weighing in on the idea of allowing street racers to race legally.
Officials have called street racing a city-wide problem in Milwaukee. Now, there's a proposal to allow street racing at the Milwaukee Mile Track at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
Alderwoman Chantia Lewis says it's something that needs to be addressed.
"I don't want to move it out of Milwaukee. If we can find a location in the city where we can get those dollars, perfectly fine. I don't want to give dollars away. This will be just like a NASCAR event where you have to pay to come, pay to participate," said Ald. Lewis.
Another proposal that passed through the committee earlier this month is ticketing those who watch these races. The fines would range from $20 to $400.
