CBS 58 BAYSIDE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Libraries have always been places for stories, community, and connection, and in today’s digital age, they’re evolving faster than ever.
In Bayside, the new North Shore Library is embracing that change with a modern space designed to meet the needs of today’s families.
The new 25,000-square-foot facility is twice the size of its previous location, offering bright, open areas and dedicated spaces for everything from quiet studying to story time for children.
The project was years in the making that was made possible by a developer donating the space as well as a 4-year-long capital campaign that showed community support and donors.
The library’s director, Rhonda Gould, says the goal is to reflect what the community wants.
“Let us know what you’d like to see,” she said. “We want to bring programming that serves everyone.”
The updated space also highlights how media habits have shifted over the last decade. The previous building, Gould says, wasn’t designed for a modern library experience.
The new space includes family-friendly areas, like a children’s play space and a quiet mother’s room. Plus, you’ll find popular children’s resources like Tonies, interactive audio characters, that are always being checked out.
For Gould, the library is more than just a building. “A good, well-rounded community needs to have a strong public library,” she said.
With room to grow and adapt, the North Shore Library is ready to turn the page toward the future.
