After a cool Wednesday with highs staying in the low to middle 70s, we will start to see the temperatures increase the rest of the week. Highs on Thursday reach the upper 70s then Friday is close to average in the low 80s. Saturday is when we start to feel the warmth in the middle 80s with 90 degrees possible both Sunday and Monday.
Dew points and humidity levels will stay low on Thursday in the low 50s. Humidity should stay comfortable for Friday with dew points in the middle 50s. But the humidity returns for the weekend with muggy air returning by Saturday afternoon with dew points reaching the upper 60s. tropical level humidity is possible for the beginning of next week.
It will be hard to see any improvement in our drought situation. Some of our northern counties saw a good soaking rain about 10 days ago when 2-3" fell across Washington and Ozaukee Counties, but especially along the I-94 corridor and south has hardly seen any rain this month. Milwaukee is currently sitting at 0.16" of rain for the month which is 2.30" below average and the second driest start to the month on record. The driest start in 1936 ended the month with 0.28" of rain, so if we don't get any more this July it will end as the driest on record.
Drought conditions have not improved in southeast Wisconsin over the last week, but they certainly haven't gotten better. Pockets of drought are currently in place along and north of the I-94 corridor and also near Sheboygan and south of Madison. Expect worsening drought with the next update next week.
Rain chances will be hard to come by the next few days with 0% chance for any rain Thursday and Friday and only a 15% chance at a passing shower Saturday evening. Sunday evening into Monday have some slightly better chances, but even then, there is disagreement among the weather models whether or not we actually see those storms.
