Special election for Racine mayor will happen in October

The special election in Racine for mayor will have a primary September 19 and a election October 17. 

Former Mayor John Dickert resigned from the position effective July 16. Dickert accepted the Chief Executive Officer of Great Lakes St. Lawrence Cities Initiative (GLSLCI), an organization with offices in Chicago. GLSLCI members are mayors in both the US and Canada, dedicated to protecting and restoring the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. 

The estimated cost for the special election is $200,000.
