MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The World Series championship moment was a long time coming for so many Brewers fans.

That includes the thousands who attended another sold-out watch party from inside the stadium.

Fans told us what this moment means to them after decades of heartbreak, sharing it with family and friends.

Laura told us, "Oh my God, it was so exciting!"

Zach said, "I was so proud to be a Milwaukee fan."

And Nico told us, "Oh my God, it was a miracle. It was great."

Mike had tears in his eyes as he hugged friends, then told us, "We've been waiting a long time for this. I'm a seasoned seat holder for 15 years, and it was time. This team is something special."

The World Series championship moment capped off a day of celebration of baseball the Brewers way.

Elementary school teacher Andrea said, "They play together and they have fun doing it, and I think that just wears off on everybody else, which I think is awesome because I think we need that."

Greg told us, "The Brewers organization is the classiest organization. I've never met a bunch of humble athletes like the Brewers."

The 30,000 strong shared the moment with family and they shared it with those there in spirit.

We asked Tom, who was there with his grandchildren, who he was thinking of in the final moments. He said, "I was thinking of Grandpa, my dad, my father-in-law. Huge fans, man, just emotional. I love it."

And they shared it with friends, old and new.

Don and Karen met at Game 5 of the 1982 World Series. 44 years later, Karen explained how baseball has kept them close. "We have made friends. We have been here with friends. We made new friends tonight in the parking lot after the win, and we will remember them forever."

The early Brewers lead allowed this sold-out crowd to enjoy the sausage race and the seventh-inning stretch.

But as the game progressed and the gravity of the situation set in, they started cheering every out.

Finally, came release, relief, and jubilation.

As streamers fell from the rafters, Jessica told us, "To share this with my son and my dad and my sister, I just I can't even put into words how amazing this is."

And though the stadium will soon close for this season, fans say there are more celebrations to come, and they cannot wait for a championship parade.
