Brewers fans pack Game 5 watch parties with World Series title in reach
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There are plenty of places to watch Game 5 on Wednesday night, both in and outside of Milwaukee.
Hundreds of Brewers fans returned to Deer District for Game 5 of the World Series, hoping to witness Milwaukee capture its first championship in franchise history.
Fans packed the downtown watch party as the Brewers took the field with a chance to bring a World Series title home.
"It means the world to me," Brewers fan Jan Schraeder said. "I've been waiting a long time for this. Every year I've been coming to the playoffs as many as I can, and this year I've been to quite a few. I'm hoping they're gonna do it tonight."
The crowd included generations of Brewers fans, from younger supporters experiencing the moment for the first time to longtime fans who have waited decades for Milwaukee to reach this point.
"Even these kids that weren't even born, they don't even know who the Brewers are, but it's awesome," Schraeder said.
For fans gathered at Deer District, Game 5 represented a chance to celebrate a moment many have spent years waiting to see.
In Pewaukee, fans gathered at Steny's Lake Country.
“I think they truly want it after losing the one game," one fan said. "But I feel like people think that lit a fire in Tampa, but I think our Brewers, the way we've been playing and how dominant we've been, I think that lit a fire in us. Because we haven't been losing, and we just lost and we're like, that can't happen again.”
