MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Food, fun, and resources in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood. It’s all part of a free event to promote peace.
There were lots of things to do and find out about including school registration, a job fair, and people also learned about their right when stopped by police.
Several students from Marquette University’s Urban Connection program were also on hand.
“Resources, we need resources so bad in our community and to have it, it’s all over the place. I mean, everybody united and come together as one,” says Michelle Pitts-Luckett, owner of Pitts Mortuary.
“You’re part of the Marquette community and the Milwaukee community at large. It’s something you can really get involved in. Sort of spread out into the community, get to know people, get to make those relationships outside the Marquette University bubble,” says Kevin Dolick with Urban Connection Marquette.
