Sheriff's Office investigating drone flying over Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary, harassing the animals

Update:

The operator of the drone contacted the Sheriff’s Office in response to the Facebook posting last week.

The operator voluntarily showed the investigating deputy the entire recorded video footage which did not show any attempt to harass the animals or staff at Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary.

Upon review of the footage, the Sheriff’s Office determined the operator was operating within the hobbyist rules set forth by the FAA and the drone was legally registered.

WASHINGTON COUNTY Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Sheriff's Office responded to Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary in the Town of Farmington in investigating a drone that was flying over the property, harassing and scaring the animals.

It happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The investigation revealed that the operator was likely off-site when the complainant observed the dark quad-copter flying in the enclosure.

The property owners are concerned that the drone is causing undue stress to all of the animals.

Any person with information is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
