Racine woman killed in rollover crash near 9th and Park Avenue

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 73-year-old Racine woman has died after a rollover crash Sunday, Aug. 30. 

Officers responded to the intersection of 9th and Park Avenue around 2:11 p.m., according to the Racine Police Department.

They say the woman was traveling west on 9th St. when she failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by a van traveling south on Park Avenue. 

Officials say the driver of the van, a 43-year-old man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. 

Authorities were notified Monday, Aug. 31, that the 73-year-old woman died of her injuries after being transported to Froedtert hospital. She was identified by Racine police Tuesday as Ida Chambliss. Her passenger, a 58-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.
