MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- We Energies is making its case to state regulators on Tuesday, Sept. 1 for a proposed rate increase that would raise customers’ monthly bills beginning next year.

The utility is seeking an increase of about 14%, or more than $13 per month. We Energies says the additional revenue would help cover new solar, wind, battery storage and natural gas projects, along with other investments.

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission is reviewing the proposal Tuesday, and is also scheduled to take public comments on the proposed increase at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
