Police Exchange Gunshots with Suspect

While investigating a report of shots fired in the area of N 29th Street and W Auer Avenue Thursday night, Milwaukee Police officers came under fire themselves.  Around 8:20 PM, officers from the Neighborhood Task Force took two people into custody and recovered a firearm after investigating a report of shots fire.  As they were doing so, additional gunshots were heard.   According to a Police report, as they were investigating the second shots fired, a suspect fire a gun in their direction.  One of the officers returned fire, but no suspects were struck and no officers were struck.  The investigation is continuing as the Police seek the suspect who fired the shots in their direction.
