Pit bull saves child from swarm of bees

PORTLAND, OR -- A pit bull is being hailed as a hero after it saved an eight-year-old boy from a swarm of angry bees.

Eight-year-old Jesse-Cole Shaver is hugging his dog a little tighter. He was exploring a steep hill by a creek with his sister and other neighborhood children. One of those children stepped into a rotten log and unleashed a swarm of bees.

Jesse was stung 24 times, and couldn't make it back up the hill on his own. Luckily Jesse's pit bull \"Hades\" came to the rescue. \"Hades saw me and came and she dragged me to the grass and then stopped and let me craw on her back and then took me to mom.\"

Jesse's sister Jasmine was stung five times. This encounter was deadly, because Jasmine is allergic to bees. \"It felt like a bunch of needles went into my skin, and I didn't know what was going on until the girl started yelling 'Bees!'\"

Jesse's mother, who does not want to be identified, says, \"I just heard a bunch of screaming, then I saw my dog dragging my son up by his pants.\"

The dog and kids were treated, and are back home. The kids won't be going down the trail behind their home ever again.
