Parents outraged after son is not allowed to read bible in class

The parents of a 12-year-old Missouri boy are upset after their child's teacher said he could not read the Bible during free time in class. The 12-year-old tells WDAF he was silently reading the book, and wasn't showing it to other classmates.

The parents of 12-year-old Loyal Grandstaff say the middle school teacher violated their son's civil rights. The parents say they raise their children to honor God, and the freedom of religion should permit their son to quietly read the Bible in school.

The middle school principal says bibles are not banned from his school, but cannot further comment until he finishes his investigation.
