MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Around the clock shopping hours were marketed to the procrastinators.

But on the Friday before Christmas in Milwaukee, well before dawn, CBS 58 News found out that most who were out and shopping were just plain busy.

"I help take care of my mom and she's 92," said shopper Janet Holytz. "She's sleeping now. So,  I can get out and get the last minute items I need. This is a perfect time for me to get out."

Holytz was at the Kohl's along 27th near Loomis. The retail chain is staying open 24-7 until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

The nearby Toys R Us is also open overnight.

Some shoppers say it's the only way to edge out the competition for hard to get items or those in limited stock because of special pricing.

"I think it's great that they're open 24-7 because people work different shifts and sometimes the only time you can get out is now,"  said Donna Maas who tagged along with her friend Christine Michalak.

"We just thought we would get here early," added Michalak. "You never know if there's going to be a lot of people here or not. We didn't want to take the chance."
