MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The fight to end cancer continues.
Today, Aug. 17, the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center held its Inaugural Audaxity bike ride.
More than 1,000 riders rode anywhere from six to 100 miles around American Family Field.
The event united scientists, doctors, cancer patients and survivors to raise money for the new cancer center.
The Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center Deputy Director Mary Horowitz says we have to work together to beat this disease.
"There are very few things that affect a family and a community as much as when someone gets a diagnosis of cancer," said Horowitz. "Because of that we have to have the entire community involved in defeating it."
Horowitz says riders came across the country to participate. She said they plan on making this an annual event and hopes it continues to grow.
