Suspended Milwaukee County Sheriff Deputy arrested for OWI in West Allis

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office tells CBS 58 the deputy involved was already on suspension. Due to the suspension he had already surrendered his badge and gun and did not have the power to arrest people.

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An off-duty Milwaukee County Sheriff Deputy has been arrested for OWI.

According to the West Allis Police Department, officers responded to a crash in the area of 74th and Becher around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle which had gone up the curb and struck a fire hydrant.

Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as an off-duty MCSO deputy. He was arrested and cited for first offense OWI.

The deputy was not armed at the time of the incident.

No one was injured in this crash.

CBS 58 is not naming the deputy because he has not been formally charged.
