Nightclub Transforming into Grocery Store
A local business owner is filling a void by turning a former nightclub into a full service grocery store.
Charjit Kaur is currently renovating the former Gene's Lounge and Bowling Alley on West Fond Du Lac into her third grocery store called Stark Foods III.
The business will also serve as a check cashing, dry cleaning and beauty supply store.
Walmart left the area earlier this year along with its grocery selection leaving somewhat of a food desert.
The $1.5 million project will also bring more than 20 jobs to the area and Kaur plans to hire people who live here.
"People need more jobs around here and people need a nice, brand new grocery store. I don't see to many grocery stores around here,” Kaur said.
The store will officially open at the end of February.
