MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new mural is underway commemorating heroes on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Local artist, Mauricio Ramírez, is bringing a new mural to the intersection of 6th and Lincoln on the city's south side. The final piece will show a worker in the medical field, along with flags. With the building owner's permission, Ramírez is commissioning the project himself.
The wall is directly across from the Basilica of Saint Josephat, which has served as a beacon of hope throughout the years.
"This means a lot to me and to the community, especially at a time like this where we kind of need something to uplift our spirits. I wanted to pay tribute and champion our medical workers that are working right now in the front lines," said Ramírez.
Ramírez plans on completing the mural in the coming days.
