Natural gas leak occurs in Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to a natural gas leak in the area of 358 East 9 Street on July 9, 2015 at 11:51 a.m. 
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to a natural gas leak in the area of 358 East 9 Street.  
A construction company struck a six inch gas line.   
Upon arrival fire crews evacuated approximately 40 residents in the surrounding area until it was determined to be safe.  Alliant Energy was contacted and arrived on scene rapidly to locate the valves and other portions of the gas line and clamp off the leak.  
Alliant Energy remained on scene to remedy the problem and assure that all residents regained service.  The Fond du Lac Police Department and State Patrol assisted with traffic control.
