MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Our crews were called to the school to investigate a natural gas odor. We discovered the odor was coming from the schools HVAC system. Repairs have been made.

The Carmen Southgate school is reporting that crews were called to the school to investigate the Monday, Sept. 28 morning natural gas odor. They reportedly discovered that the smell came from the school's HVAC system.

Repairs have been made, according to officials.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Staff at Carmen Southgate noticed a gas smell inside the building before students arrived on Monday, Sept. 28. No students went inside, according to a statement from Carmen Schools of Science and Technology.

Students were directed to a safe spot outside while We Energies responded to assess the situation. No injuries were reported. As a precaution, students were sent home, and the school switched to asynchronous learning for the rest of the day.

The school said it will update families as it learns more. The source of the smell has not been released.
