Multiple families displaced by overnight apartment fire in Milwaukee

A kitchen fire in a Milwaukee apartment building Monday night has put a number of families out of their homes. The Red Cross is assisting the families displaced by the fire at N 29th Street and W Wisconsin Avenue. The Milwaukee Fire Department says the fire began around 10:25 PM in a kitchen in a third floor apartment. The 20 residents in the building at the time were able to evacuate the building unharmed. Damage to the building is estimated at $135,000 while the cause of the fire is being investigated.
