GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Now that the Estabrook Dam is gone one group celebrated Thursday night with a party. Milwaukee Riverkeepers celebrated their efforts at the Holiday Inn Riverfront across from the former event.
The event included live music and cocktails. County Executive Chris Abele attended the event and says the dam coming down is a win for everyone, “I wish that maybe it had not taken ten years to get to this point. For anyone that wants to understand, I can tell you about clean water and I can tell you about less flood risk and I can tell you that more fish saves money,” said Abele.
The Estabrook Dam had been around since 1937.
About ten years ago, the DNR ordered Milwaukee County to repair the dam or demolish it.
