Public Art to engage community in Downtown Racine
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Rec held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, June 22, celebrating the completion of renovations to Emigh Playfield.
Updates to the playground include modernized equipment, basketball and pickleball courts, and a new splash pad.
Joining in on the event was Mayor Cavalier Johnson, who cut the ribbon alongside some local youth. He reflected on his own time spent at the city's parks, saying they're places where memories are made.
"This is where kids come to play, but this is where families gather, where neighbors gather, where you can come together and meet new friends and create these wonderful opportunities at playfields and playgrounds all across our city," Mayor Johnson said.
Construction for this project began in fall of 2024, after a number of community engagement sessions in the years prior.
