Milwaukee man sentenced to 15 years after crashing into bus shelter, killing passenger

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday for the death of 17-year-old Jamera Doyle.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Kenneth Wright was driving a car that slammed into a bus shelter at Green Bay and Capitol Drive back in October of 2021. Doyle, his passenger, was thrown from the vehicle and killed.

Wright pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless homicide and violating a no contact court order as part of a plea deal in 2022.

A charge of knowingly operating while suspended (causing death) was dismissed.

Court records show his sentence will be followed by 10 years of extended supervision.
