Milwaukee man dies in Wyoming avalanche

LINCOLN COUNTY, Wyo. (CBS 58) -- A 24-year-old Milwaukee man died in an avalanche that carried him into a creek below in Wyoming. 

It happened near the town of Smoot, Lincoln County, on Thursday, Feb. 23.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Alex Balestrieri was snowmobiling when an avalanche broke loose above him.

A report from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) says Balestrieri was pinned by his snowmobile. 

Officials said the snowmobile triggered the avalanche.
